Who am I?

Hello! I’m Danielle (aka Feyhere or Fey) and I am the creator and owner behind Feyhere’s Crochet! I am a volcano scientist - hence the volcano logo - and I have a masters in geology studying the chemistry of volcanic material. I still research volcanoes today and I am currently working in maps.

Warning: any questions about volcanoes may result in an hour long conversation about geochemistry and volcanoes in general. Please be warned, I love rocks.

That aside. . .

I started seriously crocheting about 10 years ago as a stress reliever for graduate school, and then for wedding planning stress, and continued since as it brings me a lot of joy. I would make lots of Christmas gifts for everyone and I started exploring ear warmers, neck warmers, scarves, hoods, ornaments and cup cozies. Eventually I branched off into making bookish items and more fantasy and cozy things like witch hats, ren faire items and lap blankets.

My husband and my sister have been my biggest supporters through all of this. My second set are the managers.

I have 3 managers who show up often in our social media photos, Snape, Neko and Kii-tan. Snape you can see below as he very much enjoys snuggling, everyone else just wants my yarn.

When I moved to Buffalo, my sister told me I should look into vending so I can spread the cozy goodness, and I have been doing that for about a year now. So here we are. Crochet, cozy things, dopamine.

I love vending as it gives me a chance to interact with other book lovers and other fantastic artists out there.

What about before graduate school? I did learn baby crochet with finger slip stitches when I was in middle school, my great aunt and I would slip stitch hangars and make pom poms and it was so much fun. I think she was hoping I would take after her and crochet like she did. So in some way, this is my way of keeping her alive in my heart after she passed away while I was working on my Thesis.

Today I focus on making items such as witch hats, belt bags, book and kindle sleeves, bookmarks, cute keychains and fidgets, cozy lap blankets, and fun hair accessories. I do create some seasonal items, and I am working on making my own mosaic crochet patterns. I am slowly expanding more and more with my bookish goods and cozy whimsy, I hope you follow along for the ride with me.
